Anthropic's smallest IPO band gives back its spike
The sub-$1.25trn band fell 11.8 points in a day after touching 25%, yet the book still points higher.
In one line: Anthropic closes its first trading day below $1.25trn, a risk the 11% price underrates.
The contract on Anthropic closing its first trading day below $1.25trn touched 25% on 6 November and sits at 11% on 7 November. The venue reports a fall of 11.8 points in the last 24 hours, and the price is still up 7 points over the week from 4% on 31 October. On the same day, the $1.25trn to $1.5trn band prices at 32% and the $1.5trn to $1.75trn band at 29%. The $2.0trn to $2.25trn band sits at 7%.
The wider book points higher. An Anthropic IPO by 31 December 2026 prices at 87%, with a November float at 77%. SpaceX is 89% to post the highest 2026 IPO market cap, against Anthropic at 11%.
My reading: the 11% on the smallest band looks cheap. The 32% on the $1.25trn to $1.5trn band is the only packet figure that puts the close near $1.3trn, barely above the threshold, and a weak first day could tip it under. The 25% high on 6 November shows that risk drew money once.
My call: Anthropic closes its first trading day below $1.25trn. The 11% price underrates the chance of a weak debut. A first-day close at or above $1.25trn, on the day the shares list, would prove it wrong.
