Serbia's Student List regains ground on election day but trails Vučić
Traders lifted the students' odds 6.5 points in a day, yet still give United Serbia 72%.
In one line: Vučić's United Serbia takes the most seats in Serbia's 25 October vote; the Student List's 28% overstates its chance of finishing first.
Traders gave Serbia's Student List a 37% chance of winning the most seats on 18 Oct and cut it to 18% by 24 Oct. From that low it has recovered to 28%, 6.5 points of it in the last 24 hours. The Polymarket contract asks which list wins the most seats in the 250-member National Assembly at the election scheduled for 25 Oct. It pays only if the Student List tops the seat count, with ties broken on valid votes.
The only other contract in the event, Aleksandar Vučić's United Serbia, sits at 72%. Between them the two contracts account for nearly all the probability the market assigns, so traders see a two-way race with Vučić's list far ahead.
The week's path matters more than the last day's bounce. Traders marked the students down for most of the week, and the rebound still leaves the contract well short of the 37% it held on 18 Oct. A bounce this close to settlement more probably reflects traders closing out bets than fresh information on the count. The best case for the students is that the 18% low on 24 Oct was the overreaction and the bounce corrects it, a view that holds if the first results show the Student List level with or ahead of United Serbia.
United Serbia wins the most seats, and the Student List's 28% overstates its chance of finishing first. The call is wrong if the official count from the 25 Oct vote puts the Student List ahead on seats, or if its contract climbs above 72%, inverting the current Vučić reading, as results arrive on 25 Oct. A Vučić win keeps his list the largest in the 250-seat National Assembly; an upset would hand that place to the Student List – Students Win.
