Traders swing back towards a narrow Flávio Bolsonaro win in Brazil
The under-4-point contract rose 16 points in a day to 40%, though Ipespe shows a 5.4-point lead.
In one line: Flávio Bolsonaro beats Lula by four points or more of valid votes on 25 October; 40% on a tighter win overstates the chance.
An Ipespe poll released on Saturday gives Flávio Bolsonaro 52.7% of valid votes against 47.3% for Lula before Brazil's 25 October runoff, riotimesonline reported on 11 October. That is a lead of 5.4 points. The same day Ratinho Junior, governor of Paraná, endorsed Flávio. On 12 October the outlet reported texts recovered by Brazil's police that place Flávio at Daniel Vorcaro's home on the day a law backing BRB's purchase of Master was signed.
Traders now give a Flávio win by less than 4 points 40%. That is up 16 points in the last 24 hours on the venue's figure, and up 21 points since the seven-day low of 19% on 12 October. Over the seven days the contract is still down 12 points from 52%. The last digest, on 12 October, had it at 20%. In the same event the 4-8 point band trades at 36%, 8-12 points at 15% and 12 points or more at 3%. On who wins outright, Polymarket gives Flávio 87% and Kalshi 88%, two books in near agreement.
The poll and the price now disagree, and the price is the weaker of the two. Ipespe's 5.4-point gap falls inside the 4-8 band, yet traders rate a narrower win above it. A contract that ran from 52% to 19% and back to 40% in one week shows traders without a settled view of the margin. The Vorcaro texts give the best case for a tighter race, and a poll taken after them would show whether they cost him votes.
Flávio Bolsonaro wins the 25 October runoff by 4 points or more of valid votes, and 40% on a narrower win is too high. The other side has a fair point: a single poll with a 5.4-point lead sits close to the line, and a survey after the Vorcaro report showing the gap under 4 points would make it right. The call is wrong if the official count after the 25 October vote puts Flávio's margin under 4 points of valid votes or hands Lula the win. A clear margin would leave less room for the fight over the electoral court that Lula has already begun.
