Kalshi traders lift Navalnaya to the top of the Nobel field
Kalshi's contract rose 19 points in a day, peaking at 53% before falling back to 24%
In one line: Yulia Navalnaya will not be named the 2026 Nobel Peace laureate; a 24% price overrates her after traders walked away from a 53% peak.
Kalshi traders lifted Yulia Navalnaya's chance of winning the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize from 4% on 2 Oct to 24% on 9 Oct. Most of that came in the last 24 hours, when the contract rose 19 points. The price peaked at 53% on 9 Oct before falling 29 points to 24%.
The rest of the event puts her at the top. No other Kalshi contract in the event tops 14%, and Donald Trump's sits at 1%. Polymarket's separate book prices Navalnaya within one point of Kalshi, puts Mykola Kuleba second at 16% and gives Trump 0%.
The close, not the peak, is the price to trust. The 53% high marked a burst of buying that the book could not hold. What remains rates Navalnaya the most probable winner in a field where no other contract tops 14%, which still leaves her more likely to lose than to win. The only reporting bears on a rival: The Arab Weekly reported on 8 Oct that Trump said it was "about time" he won, though he did not know the committee's decision, and judged his chances slim.
Navalnaya will not be named the 2026 laureate, and 24% rates her too high. She traded at 3% on 4 Oct, and the jump since rests on a single day's buying that traders partly reversed within hours. The call fails if the Nobel committee names Navalnaya the 2026 laureate before 1 Jan 2027.
