Traders now back Brazilian inflation under 4% for December

The Kalshi contract jumped 72 points in a week, touched 91% on 28 Sep, then eased to 82%.

In one line: Brazil's 12-month inflation ends 2026 below 4.00%, as traders expect, but the 82% price claims more certainty than months of unrecorded prices allow.

Traders on Kalshi have swung from doubting to backing Brazilian inflation below 4.00% for December 2026. The contract rose from 10% on 22 Sep to a high of 91% on 28 Sep, then eased to 82% on 29 Sep. The venue also reports a 72.0-point gain over 24 hours, so the week's move came in one burst rather than in steady steps. The contract resolves on 31 March 2027, 183 days from now.

The December reading covers all of 2026, and October, November and December have not yet been measured. A price that climbs from 10% to 91% and falls back to 82% inside a week may move further before Brazil's October inflation figure arrives. The 9-point retreat shows that some traders already think the jump went too far.

At 82%, the contract prices an 82-in-100 chance that Brazil's 12-month inflation for December 2026 prints below 4.00%. That outcome is probable, but the price runs ahead of a figure that still rests on months of prices no one has measured. The best case for a higher price is that traders pushed the contract up 72 points in a week and kept most of the gain. If Brazil's October reading bears them out, 82% is too low. The call is wrong if the December reading, which settles the contract by 31 March 2027, prints at or above 4.00%.
